Tonbridge-based S&S Distribution has reinforced its support for the Nourish Community Foodbank in the wake of the ongoing cost of living crisis.
The company has invested in new livery promoting the work of the foodbank which provides help for the most vulnerable 365 days a year.
Emblazoned on the curtains of a collection and delivery lorry, S&S Distribution will help increase Nourish’s profile across the borough of Tunbridge Wells and surrounding areas.
S&S Distribution is a long-time supporter of the foodbank, having previously nominated Nourish as its Charity of the Year.
Previous charitable activities include lending support to the Nourish Christmas campaign which aims to help thousands of vulnerable families, installing a collection pod at its Vale Road site to take donations, and encouraging drivers to take donations from customers in aid of the charity.
Staff have also organised various fundraising activities and have provided manpower to help pack food boxes.
The Nourish Community Foodbank was founded by Olga Johnson in 2012. The idea was to provide a regular source of healthy food for households otherwise unable to afford it.
Over the past decade demand for Nourish’s services have grown exponentially across Tunbridge Wells and South Tonbridge with referrals up 32% in 2022 alone.
Of those who receive help 48 per cent are children under 18, one in seven are victims of domestic abuse and one in ten are relying on the services of the foodbank as the result of illness or an accident.

“We have built an excellent relationship with the foodbank since forging a working relationship two years ago and will continue to build on everything we’ve achieved together as demand for the foodbank continues to grow.”
Established more than half a century ago S&S employs a 90-strong workforce, including 50 drivers.
